Site Clearance - Day 4

The last day of clearance of old trees and overgrowth. The back looks a lot more open: One can see the bridge now! Dead conifers are gone: Cypress and weeping birch got dead branches removed and pruned: View from the front:

Monster machine grinding down the old chestnut tree: Our beautiful oak tree is standing proud now: The area around it cleared: The site after 3 days of clearance. All trees that were scheduled have been removed:

The group of trees in the middle of the plot is being cleared - this is where the back of the house will be: The old dead chestnut tree at the front is gone - this will be the middle of our drive: The stone pillars are getting cleared. These will be removed and the ground level will go down by 1.5m Our beautiful oak tree is getting more space and is becoming a proper feature The plot is changing:

The day started with a pre-commencement meeting and planning with our arborist Alex and ecologist Mike Then the machinery arrived at 8:30am: Road safety first: First cut - clearing the entrance to the site: The entrance hedge is disappearing very quickly: Bolts on the grinding machine: The entrance is cleared and the machinery is on site: Bushes on the left are very established with thick trunks: and they are gone: Fly over the work in progress: Working hard: Starting on 2 large cypress trees: Lower part of cypress trees cleared: And they are gone:

Today was a gorgeous sunny day with very little wind which gave a great opportunity to get DJI Mavic Pro out and do some flying and filming above the site before the destruction begins.

Chislehurst is enjoying a beautiful sunny week so this was probably our last chance to take these blue sky photos before the clearance begins and the site becomes unrecognisable.
